Camping

This wasn't a typically camping trip nor was it planned. Rex had gone another one of his solo missions and in his attempt to run away he caught the eye of Jaymie. The small EVO was curious as to what her adoptive brother was doing and knew she missed him a lot last time he went away so she begged him to take her with him. The teenaged EVO agreed. They headed out that night and arrived at the cabin by morning.

No doubt Holiday and Six were worried about Jaymie's disappearance. She was barely six years old. But she was with her brother, not taken by a stranger or vanished completely in the night. Things would be fine. Right? They still had to worry and try their damnedest to find her. What parent didn't worry?

As the parents were left to track the children down, the EVO kids were settling in at an old cabin they had come across. It was cozy to a point, there was furniture and other than some dust from disuse it was still passable. It would do. As Jaymie rested, tired from the long night of travel Rex headed out to find the nearest store. He was hungry and was sure the little girl was too. He wanted to track down food for the two of them as soon as he could. Jaymie would be alright until he got back.

However, he was wrong. While he was away Jaymie woke up. It was nearing lunchtime. She was hungry and alone. Looking around for Rex she ventured outside. Stepping close to the forest line a very menacing and distinct hiss was heard. A snake took its strike, fangs diving deep into the small girl's ankle.

She screamed. Pain flared through the entity of her leg and pulsed with each beat of her heart. Jaymie stumbled and fell backward. The snake was still dangerously close and let out another threatening hiss.

Trying to get away only resulted in another bite but finally, she got far enough away to prevent another strike. But the child collapsed in the mud and gritted through the pain. Everything hurt and each breath was heavy. Jaymie swallowed hard. Her mouth was dry and it felt like cotton was caught in her throat. Warm washed though her. She sobbed. All she could do was wait.
