Theme 056 - Protector (about 231 words)

He made a promise. To himself. He would protect Rex. He knew knew the kid could handle himself, at least now days, Six saw to it. He trained the kid after all. But that still didn't ease the worry when the kid ran off. Yeah he knew Rex would be okay and either come back eventually or he'd have to go bring the kid back himself but he still worried something would happen. He wouldn't easily or directly admit it but he cared about the kid and he promised himself he'd protect Rex.  So when the kid wasn't using his head and was down for the count in the middle of a battle Six would step between Rex and the EVO without a second thought. No thoughts needed. He just did it, he just did what he had to to protect Rex. To protect his family. He was the protector after all.  He would do what he had to to protect Rex. He made a promise and he tried not to make promises he couldn't keep. He didn't break promises if he could help it. Part of his morals and mentality, his loyalty how he showed trust, how he was raised. He knew promises were meant to be kept, and this promise was the most important one he ever made. He would keep it. He would protect his new found family.

Theme 055 Travel (about 165 words)

Travel was part of his regular daily routine. It was just something he did. So travel wasn't particularly special or fun to him. What made travel fun or exciting was why he was traveling or when he went someplace new. That was special and fun. Going on a vacation? Hanging out with friends? Visiting a place he's never been to? Those were the things that made travel fun, exciting, special to him. Otherwise? It was just another part of his day. Part of his day. Traveling was cool and all but when it was a daily thing it became tiring very quickly. Rex kinda liked traveling, it was a good way to adventure and he was always up for adventure, but, sometimes? Sometimes Rex just likes to sit around and relax. Stay home, sleep.Relax, when there wasn't monsters to fight. Play video games. Maybe have a 'family' dinner. Things like that. Things that sometimes got pushed aside when traveling, especially when traveling too much.

theme 054 Missing (about 319 words, WIP)

She was missing. His experiment got away, and now she was roaming around the compound. This was unacceptable. He had to find her before the other found her or before she got into the labs.  Where had she run off to?  He began his search. She was getting more and more crafty and rambocus she was going to cause trouble. How did she get out in the first place? The door was locked and on he had access to that keycode. She was happily drawing when he left so why would she feel the need to run off?

Katina got bored of coloring. She didn't have a lot of things to draw and with only four pages of paper and three crayons she was limited even if she had things to draw. She sighed. She needed to explore! Yeah, that's what she'll do. She'd explore and find something interesting she could color! She stood up and stretched then headed for the door. She frowned. It was locked. But nothing a little nanite energy blast couldn't fix. And with that she was off to explore.

The place was big. Bigger than she thought. She hoped she wouldn't get lost. She made her way around trying to find something interesting. She turned a corner and bumped into someone.

"Uh oh oh! Uh Sorry"

"Oh don't worry it's cool- oh hey another kid!"

"Hi" she smiled shyly waving to the boy.

"I'm Rex."

"Katina"

"I never seen you around before." She shrugged

"I don't get out much"

That was good enough for Rex. "Hey do you wanna play with me? I don't usually have anyone to kick the football around with" He smiled as he held up the football (soccer ball)
Katina never played with a football before. That she could recall anyways. She shrugged.

"Sure." She had nothing else better to do and a game of football sounded better than drawing.

Theme 053 End of the world (about 83 words)

He seriously thought the world was gonna end that day, and if it did not end he thought he would lose his father figure. But he  fought hard and in the end he saved the day. He made his way home and Six was awake and okay. The world was not ending, his world was not ending. Everything was going to be okay. It was looking like the end of the world for a sickeningly long while back there but now everything is fine, everything was back to normal.

Theme 052 Waiting (abour 150 words)

Waiting. He hated waiting. He wanted action.  He sighed as he laid propped up on his bed. His legs up on the bed the rest of him flopped on the floor. A pillow under his head. Another sigh as he rolled over and stretched. So bored. He looked over to his clock. Only five minutes had passed. Eleven o five. Ugh. Why couldn't it be noon already? Ughhhh. What to do? How to pass the time? Uhhh he stood up and looked around. He flopped down in front of the TV and turned on his game station. Might as well play some games while waiting.

Theme 051 Vacation (about 128 words)

Vacation time! An unauthorized vacation, but a vacation nonetheless. Most things he does are unauthorized anyway so it did not matter much to him. It was time to go on a vacation. Maybe a road trip, cross country perhaps?  Or maybe he'd head to the beach. Catch a concert somewhere. He didn't know. He wasn't sure where he wanted to go, or where he'd be headed but he was gonna go somewhere and have a good few days break.  He grabbed a bag from under his bag and shoved some clothes into along with a hairbrush, and toothbrush. He actually packed this time go him. He slung his bag over his shoulder and headed out. Sneakily. Time for a vacation. As long as no one catches him leaving.

theme 050 Dinner (abour 111 words)

Friday nights, the time for the small group turned family to have a family dinner. A dinner of meatloaf and mashed potatoes.  A tradition they've had for months now. A tradition Rex enjoyed greatly. He could feel normal and have some downtime. He could talk to Six, Holiday and Bobo without bringing work into it. He could talk about his day. Well he did most of those things at other times but family dinner was important nonetheless.  It was special. It was more than meatloaf and mashed potatoes. It was the social aspect of it. The family part of it. The scheduled every friday part of it. The traditional of it.

Theme o49 Birthday (about 755 words)

He didn't remember his real birthday, he didn't even think about it. Well okay, he did the thought of when did cross his mind and it did tug on him when he knew he most likely never will know his birthdate and all the comics he read and games he played, the shows watched it made him long for a birthday party when they celebrated their birthdays, knew when they were born and how old they were. It was just something else he didn't have. That was back in the early days of his life in Providence. He didn't keep track of how long he was there but then they had a surprise party for him. Things were looking up, he felt so happy. And the anniversary of his arrival at Providence because his birthday and the day was shared with Six. The two shared a birthday. A day that wasn't even their real birthday. The day they were taken in and given a second chance and a better life. But Rex didn't know that. At least not the first year. and they didn't celebrate the following year for his seventeenth birthday after all, just so much was happening and the time skip. It was a crazy complicated time.

So here they were quickly approaching his eighteenth birthday. He didn't want much. He just wanted to spend time with his family and friends.  A small get together for dinner maybe. But actual gifts didn't mean much to him now days he cherished people more than objects. If something meant a lot to hi it was because it was given to him by someone he cares about. Whatever gift he got, if any, he'd cherish and love but he wasn't going to ask for anything even if that new video game looked awesome.

The day came and he awoke to balloons in his room. He smiled. Caico asleep on his chest. He gently moved the kitten and got out of bed. He got dressed for the day before he made his way to training and spared with Six for their usual morning training session. With years of training under his belt Rex was becoming a good match against Six. Six was proud of his progress. After training, and a quick shower, Rex met Noah and Jess for lunch. Chinese food, awesome. More training. A mission here and there. It was dinner time.

A family dinner with all his friends and family. Traditional family dinner fair, meatloaf, was had. Cake was had for dessert, this cake not touched by Holiday.  A one and an eight shaped candle was placed in the middle and lit. The group sung Happy Birthday to Rex and he made and wish as he blew out the candle. He wished for safety and healthy for all he cared for...and that he got the new video game. He was still a little selfish. After cake came presents. All very meaningful and most were practical with a few fun things thrown in. It was great. A new journal to write his memories in, a new jacket that was very similar to his old red one, a few new video games, a new shirt, a pack of socks (all his had holes in them), a photo frame with a picture of hi and Jess from this past summer, and a couple of cards with cash and gift cards inside along with heartwarming sweet words from his family. All kinds of great stuff he'll hold close to him very sentimental like ot stuff he was in need of. Perfect. But there was someone who didn't give him a gift, and who was to the back most of the gathering. Six. His father figure. It was his way so it's not like Rex was upset or confused by the actions. Six wasn't one for large gatherings or social interaction in general and he wasn't one for sentimental actions. If he was going to gift Rex something it was going to be after the party, Rex knew this.

The party was fun. The small get together was just what he wanted for his birthday. It came and went and the group dispersed some heading home, other back to work. Noah and Jess spending the night. stayed around the table still sipping some punch. Rex headed off to his room, where he found a small gift sitting. Just like he thought he would. Six appeared in the doorway. "Happy birthday Rex" Rex smiled "Thanks" and he opened the gift.

Color squared

An interesting book that holds fun and challenging coloring within. Fun pixel art and complex pages fill this book it's not your average coloring or color by number style book. It's so much more and while I found it a bit overwhelming at first I quickly started to love it and had fun coloring.

Theme 048 - Providence (about 274 words)

Providence was his life, all he knew. All he remembered, his job, his home. He didn't always agreed with Providence or  sided with them but in the end he always returned. It was where his family was after all. It's also where he called his home. But most importantly it was the way he could help the most. Where he was needed most, was at Providence. He could help the world and save the most about of EVOs.  Providence was a strict army ran all around the world. Contain or kill. A harsh rule and protocol for a harsh reality. It changed to something better, when Rex was brought in. Cure, contain or kill. He was the cure. The only cure. Providence's secret weapon. Providence had a strict way of doing things, and Rex had a way of breaking those strict rules and protocols. Much to the organization's dismay. Providence's secret weapon was not easily controlled as they would like him to be. But Rex got them a better image with the people which resulted in more funding.  It was a double edge sword to them really. A sword Rex fought so he could help the most people, and stop the cruel ways of Providence. A lot of stuff goes on behind Rex's back and angers him when he finds out. Providence was kind of a necessary evil, no one else had the resources or funding to do what they do, no one could do it on the scale they did. And they had to only cure. Rex would make sure Providence kept the evils down and did better. He did better. They helped.

Theme 047 Abused (about 96 words)

Caged. Wild. Animalistic. This is what EVOs were. The protocol for dealing with EVOs. It was contain or kill. Later changed to cure, contain and kill but the horrors still followed. The whole world, suffering. Even those that weren't that, those EVOs that kept their wits and minds were still hunted and berated. They were abused. They were yelled at and mistreated. Even the rare few ones that still looked human were no longer treated like humans. It was horrible. EVOs were abused, monster or not. To most, an evo was an evo, nothing else mattered.

Theme 046 Warmth (about 390 words)

It was warm, warmth surrounded him. That much he knew. A heavy blanket was wrapped around him he soon realized. Different than the blanket he had fallen asleep with, if he even had fallen asleep with a blanket that night. He couldn't remember. He had gone to bed exhausted, practically falling asleep as soon as he hit the mattress.  Where did this other blanket come from? Also he wasn't in his own room. He sat up and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. Oh yeah he had come to the medbay to see Holiday after his last mission. Did he fall asleep on the cot in the exam room? He must've. He looked around. Yup. Yup he did. This was one of the exam rooms from HQ's medical ward. He must have been more tired than he thought. He shifted and swung his legs over the edge of the table as he stretched. His jumbled memories from his exhausted night before came rushing back now that he was fully awake.

He had went to medical ward to see Holiday after a day full of rather tiring missions. He usually went to her in her office or the labs but he was due for a physical and after all he went through that day Dr. Holiday wanted more than a quick check over of check up to make sure he was okay. He could barely keep his eyes open as he entered the room, asking to make it quick so he could get some sleep. And that's all he really remembers. Then things get muddled and cloudy, he supposed he must have fallen asleep at some point during the exam and he was left to rest. Come to think of it he remembers being half asleep as Holiday and Six whispered about something off to the side. Something about leaving him there to rest or 'I could carry him to his room'. Guess they decided to leave him be. The he vaguely remembers shivering, the exam rooms were always very cold and chilly, something heavy being tossed over him and fingers brushing some hair out of his face. That explains the blanket. Rex smiled. Holiday's motherly actions were sweet. It was nice to have someone looking over and out for him. It was nice to know someone cared. It was warming.

Deal or Duel

A fun card game, especially for history nerds. It's easy to learn and great for groups. It a unique card game that's a fun battle to get all the money or die trying. A quick classic for my family and friends. We've played it multiple times already and will play it many times more.

friendship (76 words)

Friendship wan an important thing to Rex. He didn't have many people in his life who he felt cared for him and even less he would call friends. It's gotten better over the years. He has found old friends and remade bonds and made new friends. He had a good handful of friends and many of them were also his family now. Friendship is an important and powerful thing. A thing that mattered dearly to Rex.

Theme 044 - Lesson (about 396 words)

There's many lessons he would learn in the coming years. Many lessons he would have to learn. There's many hard  lessons he would learn in the coming years. Many hard lessons he would have to learn. It was not to long ago that he learned a very valuable lesson, that he would keep with him and remember always, granted he would only as long as his memory stayed intact.

It was a hard lesson to learn but a needed one. It was a lesson he needed to learn. It was a hard lesson he needed to learn. Did he fully learn? Maybe. Maybe not. It's Rex. It takes a while to learn hard learn lessons. If he fully learns then it is totally dependent on what that hard lesson was. What was this lesson? This lesson was in listening. Doing what you're told. That parents, guardians, adults, or whatever knew what they were talking about. Kinda knew best.    A lesson in that he should listen to Six and Holiday, that if they told him not to do something, he should not do that something.

It was a normal day of training. Rex and Six were in the petting zoo currently, instead of one of the training rooms. Rex was practicing with his builds. He was working on his jet pack. A new build he just recently discovered how to make. He dubbed it the 'Boogie Pack.' Six and Holiday didn't take to the name but whatever. The name wasn't important. The pack was still unstable and fell apart when ever Rex tried to build it... but he was trying.  This time it was actually staying together. He even had some lift off. Once he had that he wanted to see how high he could take it. Six was against it, Rex ignored him. He kept going. Don't worry I got this. He waved the man off. Six reached out to grab the kid but Rex brushed him off. It'll be fine, right?

He reached a height of like fifty, terrifying, feet. Not scared himself but the onlookers were worried. The engine sputtered and started to smoke. Quickly the boogie pack fell apart. He dropped screaming in a pile of scrap. He hit the ground and bounced with stomach turning crunches and screams. No. It wouldn't be fine, nope.  He should have listened to Six.

Theme 048 - Only Human (about 277 words)

Humans. He wasn't human anymore technically. He was an EVO. He was seen as different. He wasn't seen as human by a lot when they found out he was an EVO. It didn't matter that he still looked human or had his mind intact. Nope. It did not. But he was still very much human. Still only human. Still only a kid. Still only a teenager. Still only very much human. He had his powers, sure. He was super powered, yeah. But deep down he was still only human. He had his healing abilities, sure and he always had that part of his powers, usually, but with or without his powers he was still human. He was just a fifthteen year old forced to be some weapon for a pseudo military organization. A tool to be locked away until he was needed. But he was still only a human He was not some machine. He held close to his humanity, and held close to his morals, his thoughts, his emotions, his empathy, his kindness. He worked to better his situation  and the situation of others. He tried his best. But being only human and only fifteen he could only hold it together for so long before he cracked, before he bent, before he broke. Holiday and Six kept him afloat, they saw him for who he was, a human, a kid. They cared for him and helped him. Kept him up. Stopped him from breaking. He needed his family. His providence family, adopted family. They loved each other and held each other together. They had bonds. Humans needed that, and after all he was only human. Only human.

A place to belong (225)

He just wanted a place to belong. He felt like he didn't belong. And it wasn't because he was treated as some weapon or tool that wasn't human instead of a human fourteen year old. No. It was because he didn't remember anything of his past. And he wanted to. He wanted his past.

He felt like he belonged somewhere else. He saw on tv and read in his comics how normal families were, how normal kids his age were. They weren't like this. Not like him. They had love. Freedom even, maybe?

He would run off. Go somewhere else. Until they made him come back. But  after a long week away, doing particularly dangerous things with his nanites on the fritz he...he realized something.

He was brought back to providence by Six as always but the look on his face was different...he was worried. Holiday hugged him and asked him a bunch of questions. They cared..they cared about him. Andhe did miss them. They were his family.

He figured he belonged there. Right where he was. People belong where they are loved and cared about and yeah while most still just saw him as some EVO tool these two? They saw more, and loved him for him. It was something special and he wanted to be there, right where he belonged.

Gaurdian (about 294 words)

He was assigned to be his handler, his trainer and if it came to it his ender. He would train and protect the kid. Always in the back of his mind, that he might have to one that end the boy's life. He would not let that happen. He was assigned to do a lot of things.  What he wasn't assigned to do, and others were actually against, was becoming his guardian. But he did just that.

He was the kid's guardian, his protector. His father figure.

He never saw himself as some who would make a good father. He never saw himself as a father. But he here was. With Rex looking up to him, looking to him for guidance. Here he was as some sort of father figure like it or not. He would have to try to be better. Be a better person so that he could raise Rex into a better person than he could ever be,Raise him into a better man than himself. He'd see to it that Rex turned out a good person. He was a good person. But a better person.

Raising a teenager was hard. It was nearly impossible to train a teen. In any sense of the word. But he would try.

He'd be there for him to help guide him and teach him to support him wherever he could. He might not be the best with words or advice but her could try. He could try. He was not the type to talk and for an on edge observant person he wasn't one to take notice to things when it came to others. But he could try. He would be there. Though the best and the worse.

That's what guardians did after all.

Failure (about 139 words)

He was a failure, a failure when it came to healthy relationships with others. He would not let others get close. He could not let anyone in. But worse of all he failed at romantic relationship. He was such a failure. What was he going to do? He did not want to fail Holiday. To ruin anything with her. He did not want to hurt her. He did not want to be a failure, not again. He was not going to. Not this time. He would not be a failure.  He was going to do all her could for Holiday. Actually be open, talk. Actually be there. He would do better this time. He would not mess this relationship up. Holiday was the love of his life, just about his everything. He could not afford to be a failure.

A Boy Called Christmas

What a great children's book. A great Christmas book that  will become a tradition to read. My family loved reading and listening to this book and it was wonderfully written and the cover art was amazingly drawn. I got the audio CD version of this tale so I can't say how the art was but if it's all like the cover art it must be wonderfully done.

I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review.

Embarrassment (About 480 words)

This was so embarrassing.  Nothing had happened really. They were just kissing but still, Rex felt his cheeks heat up in a blush of embarrassment. Six had walked in on him and Jess. Rex was shirtless on his bed with Jess in his lap. They were making out. Teenage stuff, ya know?

He had asked permission to have Jess over, both Six and Holiday knew the two teens were in Rex's room. So there was that. At least he wouldn't be in trouble for that. Trouble or not the main thing was the embarrassment of being walled in on. Doing nothing, much, or no again the embarrassment was still there. What teen wouldn't be embarrassed if their 'parent' walked in on them while they were making out with a lover?

Six sent a glare at him from behind the sunglasses. He knew Jess was over, and knew they were in Rex's room. He did not expect them to be like that. Well, part of him honestly did. But he mostly had trusted that they wouldn't do anything. Sure it really wasn't much but the shirtless aspect was a bit much. It made it seem like things were going to go further. Her sitting in Rex's lap was also a bit much. He fumbled awkwardly to push his sunglasses up. Rex was not the only one who was embarrassed here. All three were rathered embarrassed. Six just hid it better. The  teens sat frozen in that now awkward position blushes on their faces.

"I'll...come back later." Six said as he backed out. He might have had to talk to Rex later but for now he was done. He would just leave the teenagers alone. They could...uh...finish up. He was sure they wouldn't be much longer, not with that awkward embarrassment breaking the moment. He had to go train his thoughts and awkward embarrassment away. Holiday did need Rex and Six for something but that could wait. They would be over to her lab in about fifteen minutes or so after things calmed down. Jess would surely be heading home soon after all that. Once the teens said their goodbyes and everyone pushed the embarrassment down they would regroup and head to Holiday. Six just couldn't think of anything at the moment. He needed to slice something with his swords.

Six left as quickly as he entered. The teens still sat in awkward silence. Jess slide off Rex's lap and sat on the bed next to him. More silence…

"Uh..I think I should be getting home" She said awkwardly rubbing the back of her neck.

"Yeah..that..that is...uh fine..nah it's chill. It's chill." Rex rambled awkwardly as he reached for his shirt and tugged it on.  "I'll take you home."

They stood and headed out in silence. The embarrassment still setting heavy in the air.

100 themes

UPDATE: 7/7/17  I am back, continuing this challenge! Go me. I've added a new story and will be continuing to do more. I'm changing plans again. This will once again be a 100% Generator Rex challenge. Fun. I might go back and re-do or add to some of the shorter stories (I kinda want at least 1,000 words for all but it's hard and I rather a good sort story than being stuck or stopping ot just slopping something...) We will see. For now I will just continue down the list. Enjoy

ORIGINAL UPDATE POST: 12/10/15 I finally updated the list to include all the links to the stories I've done from June-September (2015) Also this project isn't forgotten or abandoned just slowed down. More prompts will be up before the end of the year. This was originally meant to only be Generator Rex related and I picked themes based off of it but I no longer feel the same spark I use to for it and that has made it hard to write. So from now on it will be multi fandom and I might put original works in as well. So themes 1-37 are Generator Rex and anything after that can be any fandom I'm in or original works of mine. I'll be sure to say what fandom it is or if it's my own. only Please continue to enjoy. I might go back and re-do some of the first 37 with other fandoms but I'll keep the original Generator Rex ones as well.

Numbers (328 words)

Numbers. Numbers to most are just digits used to get through the world, a way to measure, figure out, and a simple thing. Numbers meant something else to a certain man in green. A lot of memories, both good and bad. A lot of arguments, fights, deaths. A lot of laughs and sparring sessions. A way of life. His life, or his old life. The way he was raised. Who was he? Six. He was Six. The sixth dangerous and deadliest person in the world. There were five others more dangerous and deadly than him. They didn't see much of each other these days and had little patients or care to be around each other but when they were together they were The Numbers, the most dangerous and deadliest people on the planet. They kill for money, fight and do what they can to survive. The four lower ranked numbers were all raised by One, the most dangerous man in the world.

One.  He was the deadliest, and he was the most dangerous. Yet he wasn't without a heart, he took in four lost, homeless, wayward children. He raised them, guided them, trained them. They were trained to be dangerous and deadly, yes, but that didn't mean he didn't instill manners and morals into them. He did. But he left it to them if they took to them. He was a harsh trainer and very dangerous and deadly but that didn't mean he didn't care for them. He would push them to their hardest but always made sure they were safe. He cared about them and loved them. They thought of him as a master, a mentor and called him master. He was a master of many things and a mentor to these fighters, but that didn't mean it was just that, he also saw himself as a father. He was to the others even if they wouldn't say it. He was the one who brought them together.
